About us
The Reverend Jean Luc Phanord Foundation was born from the love and commitment of a family dedicated to serving the most needy. Inspired by the life and work of Reverend Jean Luc Phanord and the tireless efforts of his wife, Pastor Elza Pierre-Louis, this non-profit organization was created with a single purpose: to bring hope and improve the quality of life for the most vulnerable communities.

A call to service
Reverend Jean Luc Phanord dedicated his life to evangelizing and community service. Upon arriving in La Romana, Dominican Republic, in 1979, he felt God’s call to help the Haitian community living in extreme poverty in the bateyes. Along with his wife Elza, he not only preached the Gospel but also became a fundamental pillar for education, health, and the social well-being of hundreds of families.
The tragic passing of Reverend Jean Luc Phanord in the fateful Flight 587 in 2001 left an immense void, but his legacy remained alive. His wife, Pastor Elza Pierre-Louis, along with their children, decided to honor his memory by establishing the Reverend Jean Luc Phanord Foundation. This effort would not only keep the projects started by the pastor alive but also expand their reach, bringing help to even more people.
A legacy of love and transformation
Since its creation, the Foundation has worked tirelessly in various areas of community support, guided by the principles of love, solidarity, and faith. Some of its most important initiatives include:
- Education: Creation of the Joe Hartman Evangelical School, providing education to more than 200 underprivileged children.
- Health and well-being: Collaboration with Buen Samaritano Hospital to provide medical care to low-income individuals.
- Social assistance: Feeding programs in the bateyes, support for women in vulnerable situations, and organization of community weddings for couples who were never able to formalize their union.
- Evangelism and leadership: Pastor of the Beraca Missionary Baptist Church and supervisor of various ministries and choir groups.
A future driven by faith
Despite the challenges, Pastor Elza and the Foundation continue their mission with renewed determination. With every child who receives an education, every sick person who finds relief, and every family that regains hope, the legacy of Reverend Jean Luc Phanord remains alive.
The Reverend Jean Luc Phanord Foundation is not just an organization, it is the reflection of a life devoted to service and proof that love and faith can transform entire communities.
